Swiss indie label Empire Music presents the Billboard Blackmarket Mixtape, a 40-song release featuring mainstays like The Game, Daz Dillinger, Killah Priest, Trina, Styles P, Jadakiss, Joe Budden and Project Pat with underground names like Thirstin Howl III, Chino XL, Sha Stimuli and Doitall Dupree of multi-platinum group Lords of the Underground. Blackmarket is hosted by Sonny Seeza of the multi-platinum Queens, NY rap group Onyx, preparing for his solo album Bridges Volume 1, dropping 2013 on Empire. Producers on Blackmarket include Aftermath in-house producer Focus, Switzerland’s DJ Tray, and DJ Idem, best known for his work with East New York’s Jeru Tha Damaja.
The Game brings a taste of Compton to “Chalked Up” alongside Dirty Jersey trio Premavara, M-Eighty, Eagle and Indianapolis spitter Jaeclyn Bayne. Daz Dillinger drops some Dogg Pound swagger on the G-Funk remix of “City Life” with E.D.I. of The Outlawz, Syndrome and Spanish rapper Khavel-X. Jadakiss of The Lox lends his signature menace to the High Notes-produced “Swag On Pluto” featuring Opium and Brooklyn’s St. Laz. Trina twerks all over “Iced Out Jump Ropes” featuring Shane Dean, while Joe Budden blesses the Kokayn-produced “Is This Thing On” alongside Rush and Thadd Williams. Playing a major role in this project is Joey Cutless, the L.A.-based producer whose resume covers MTV Unplugged, VH1’s Behind The Music, Oprah Winfrey and countless artists in between.
Empire Music is the Swiss record label led by CEO Matthieu “MDB” Siegenthaler whose team is responsible for releases with KRS-ONE, Delinquent Habits, JC of Bad Boy South, German rap star Kool Savas and more. Billboard Blackmarket will be available through empiremusic.ch and sonnyseeza.com as a double CD or download.
About Empire Music:
In the summer of 2011, a board of young visionaries led by CEO Matthieu "MDB" Siegenthaler came together in Basel, Switzerland and founded Empire Music. Fed up with the current state of Hip Hop and reminiscing the music of the mid-to-late nineties, they decided to work together to bring back the sound of the golden era. As if one lofty goal wasn't enough, Empire Music aims to be the first record label out of Switzerland to make an impact on the international Hip Hop industry. In order to achieve these ambitious goals, Empire unites greats of the golden era, renowned veteran producers and emerging talents all sharing a common ideal of Hip Hop.
